Customers usually ask about which technique is better to work with: embroidering or screen printing?, and, at the end, they end up quoting both options.

This is frequent with customers who want to customize their uniforms with their logo. In fact, both are great options; but, as with every textile finish, there are some differences.

Embroidering usually gets stuck in the categories of polo shirts with textile embroidery and dress shirts with textile embroidery. Even though the fabrics traditionally used to make these uniforms are good to be embroidered, they are not the only ones, since there are other categories with which embroidering also goes great such as hats, shirts, T-shirts, bags, etc.

It is clear that between a technique and the other there are some differences that go beyond the textile finish, and which we must understand before making an order.

Application:

The embroidery with its thread finish is sewn by industrial embroidering machines that allow reproducing designs in flat colors. This aspect is really important, since it is very common for our customers to want to reproduce in embroidery three-dimensional designs or with color degradations. As it is made with thread, embroidering just allows working on a color per design section.

Then, if the work to be done is an image with too much detail, the ideal is to do it in screen printing.

Screen printing is applied by transferring ink through a tensioned silk screen frame. It allows the reproduction of almost any design, and the design finish can be different just by changing the ink to be used.

Price:

If what interests us is the price, we must consider the fact that embroidering happens to be more expensive than screen printing. The reason is very simple, the supplies are a bit more expensive than those for screen printing.

However, when it comes to delivery times, embroidery is faster; of course it will always depend on how full the production agendas are.

Durability:

Both options are durable, but embroidering is the one that occupies the first place in this aspect. It lasts what the garment lasts, and it is usually years.

Purpose:

The purpose is also important, since embroidering is better for products with business purposes, of a brand, which involve a context of representation and durability. On the other hand, if we talk about promotional T-shirts, screen printing is the most suitable option.
